The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces released a statement announcing the details of the latest guerrilla actions, Turkish military attacks and clashes between guerrillas and Turkish troops in Kurdistan territory.
HEFTANIN
HPG said that fighting erupted between guerrillas and Turkish soldiers in Pirbula area of Heftanin region on 20 August afternoon and many soldiers were killed here. On 21 August morning, Turkish troops entered the villages of Banike and Minine and set fire to some houses belonging to residents in Banike village.
The statement said that sporadic clashes between guerrillas and Turkish forces continue and further details will be announced once available.
XAKURKE
In Xakurke region, guerrillas struck two military vehicles of the Turkish army with 12 soldiers as they moved from Geliye Reş to Ermuş area at 9 am on 20 August. Two soldiers were killed and two others wounded during the action, after which the Turkish army shelled the scene and the surrounding area.
HAKKARİ
The statement said that the large-scale operation launched by the Turkish army in the area of Herki, in Hakkari’s Şemdinli district on 17 August is still continuing.
ŞIRNAK
On 17 August, the Turkish army airdropped soldiers in the areas of Sefine, Cemel and Deriye Berana in the region of Mount Cudi in Şırnak countryside. One day later the Turkish army started an operation which was discontinued on the same day without achieving any results.
MEDYA DEFENSE ZONES
On the other hand, HPG reported continued airstrikes by the Turkish army against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan.
Accordingly, Turkish jets bombarded the Karker, Saca and Kunişka areas in Zap region, and the Goşine area in Xakurke region on 20 August.
The statement added that the bombardments on Zap region have caused forest fires which continue to rage.
