The popular resistance for self-rule has entered day 26 in Mardin’s Nusaybin district where clashes are intensifying again. The unit coordinating the state’s attacks was killed in the intense clashes that lasted all day yesterday and the gunfire stopped for hours in the district.

Clashes have intensified this morning in the wake of howitzer and mortar attacks of state forces that lasted through the night. The fighting is focused on Çağçağ Avenue and Veysika Cemetery line, while Şirin Street that connects Fırat and Abdulkadirpaşa neighborhoods is being shelled from the Newroz area.

In the neighborhoods that witness occasional huge explosions, state forces have started setting fire to houses after their failure to advance into the areas of self-rule. Black smoke rises from the burning houses and intense clashes are taking place between state forces and YPS/YPS-JIN members.

One major, two police chiefs and three special operations members who were coordinating the attacks of the state in Nusaybin were killed in clashes yesterday.

YPS has not released any statement on yesterday’s balance sheet yet.
