HPG: 15 police killed in action of self-sacrifice in Hakkari

HPG reported that 15 special operations police were killed in an action self-sacrifice targeting the Depin police outpost in Hakkari on July 27 evening.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office said in a written statement that Turkish occupant forces that are making further reinforcements in North Kurdistan are suffering heavy blows in the battle with guerrilla forces. HPG said the Turkish media continued to make it look like Turkish forces are suffering no losses in this ongoing war.

HPG stated that a guerrilla named Xebat Aktepe carried out an action of self-sacrifice targeting the Depin Special Operations Police outpost at the entrance of Hakkari province at 22:00 on July 27.

A bomb-laden var was detonated as 15 soldiers moved to get on their vehicles, as a result of which 3 watch towers were demolished, 1 armored vehicle was exploded and burned down, and the outpost building was partially demolished.

15 special operations police (PÖH) were killed, and 13 others were wounded alongside 15 soldiers as a result of the action. The dead and wounded police and soldiers were later taken to hospitals in Hakkari and Yüksekova.

HPG noted that Turkish forces banned civilians entry and exit in Van, Yüksekova and Çukurca till 10:00 the next morning.

The action was dedicated to martyr Amed, Çiyager Rênas and other guerrillas who were martyred recently.
