HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office has released a statement providing details regarding the ongoing actions by HPG and YJA-Star guerrillas.
HAKKARİ
HPG said actions by guerrillas have continued in response to the Turkish army operation between Serero and Bêtkarok villages in Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district of Hakkari.
According to the statement, guerrillas hit a military unit partaking in the expansive operation launched by Turkish army in the rural areas of Şemzinan on July 29. The number of dead and wounded soldiers couldn't be verified.
After taking control over the Şapatan and Êldê villages at 09:00 in the morning, guerrillas hit a military convoy near the village of Bermeşê. The action left many soldiers dead or wounded but the exact number couldn't be clarified.
As the activity of Turkish forces in this area continued, guerrillas hit a military convoy between the villages of Şapatan and Êldê, as a result of which one armored vehicle was damaged.
At 11:30 the same day, guerrillas hit a 50-person Turkish unit, which left 5 soldiers dead and 1 other wounded. A military unit trying to retrieve the casualties from the scene was also hit by guerrillas, leaving another armored vehicle damaged.
At 07:00 on July 31, guerrillas infiltrated into the position of soldiers stationed between Bêtkarok and Serero areas. Six soldiers were killed here.
Turkish forces shelled the scenes of actions and surrounding villages from 07:30 to 23:00 the same day. Cobra type helicopters also conducted an intense bombardment which started a fire in the area.
At 07:30 on August 1, guerrillas ambushed and hit the soldiers getting deployed in Serero and Soranser areas. A total of 11 soldiers were killed in the action conducted from three sides.
HPG said two guerrillas were martyred during these two days of increased actions and clashes, adding that the operation of the Turkish army continues.
On July 31, guerrillas also hit the Bezelê (Aktütün) outpost in Şemzinan with heavy weapons but the number of casualties left here couldn't be clarified.
At 11:00 on August 1, guerrillas hit and destroyed a high-voltage transmission line in Berçelan area of Hakkari.
BİNGÖL
At 17:30 on August 1, guerrillas carried out a sabotage action with a bomb-laden car targeting an armored police vehicle on move between Bingöl city center and airport. The police vehicle was completely destroyed, leaving 11 police dead and 6 others wounded. The action was dedicated to the guerrillas martyred in Lice operation.
ŞIRNAK
At 11:45 on July 31, guerrillas hit a group of soldiers deployed around Kuroşino hill in Şırnak's Uludere district. The number of dead and wounded soldiers couldn't be verified.
AMED
HPG added that a curfew has been declared in Cummalaj and Derkam villages of Amed's Lice district, as well as Şelê village and surrounding areas in Hani district on August 1 evening.
