4 Turkish soldiers were killed in an action carried out by the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) and Free Women’s Units (YJA Star) guerrillas in Metina.
The HPG Press Center has released a statement about the latest guerrilla actions and Turkish military attacks in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) where the Turkish army has been conducting a large-scale occupation operation since April 24.
The statement published by HPG Press Center on Tuesday includes the following:
“As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign, in the Metîna region;
On July 5, at 17:00, the invaders on the Martyr Çiya Hill in the Hirore region were targeted by our forces and at least 4 of them were killed, while an explosion occurred in the arsenal of the invaders on the hill.
Following the action, between 22:30 and 23:30, the invaders attempted to retrieve their casualties from the area by Sikorsky helicopters. Helicopters targeted by our forces had to move away from the area.
As part of the Bazên Zagrosê Revolutionary Campaign in the Avaşîn region;
On July 5, at 23:00, the invaders seeking to advance towards the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area were hit by our forces. The invaders retreated one stage backward.
On July 5, at 07:00, the invading Turkish army sent a detector-attached dog to the battle positions. The dog was stopped, and its detector was seized by our forces.
The invading Turkish army continues its attacks by dropping gas bombs and explosives in the battle positions in the Girê Sor area.
INVADERS DESTROY NATURE, USE CHEMICALS
The invaders, who encountered resolute resistance from our guerrilla forces since the first day of the invasion operation and could not get their desired result, are using chemical gases against our guerrilla forces and committing war crimes by destroying the nature of South Kurdistan. The invading Turkish state cuts down the trees in the area and burns dense forest areas.
The invading Turkish state bombed the Zap, Avaşîn and Metina regions with attack helicopters, fighter jets, howitzers and mortars.
The details of the latest activities by the enemy forces are as follows:
On July 5, at 00:30, some parts of the Hirore village in the Metîna region was bombed by fighter jets.
On July 5, between 00:30 and 02:30, the battle positions in the Werxelê area of Avaşîn region were bombed by fighter jets.
On July 5, between 00:30 and 02:30, attack helicopters flew over the Cîloya Biçûk and Letter T areas in the Zap region, and bombed the Şamkê area, Martyr Tufan and Letter T areas.
On July 6, between 00:30 and 03:30, Çemço and Sîda areas and Rêçbiraxa village were hit by howitzers fired from the border outposts.
On July 6, at 10:52, the Deşta Nehlê area in Akra district was bombed by fighter jets. Fire that broke out in the field after the bombardment still continues.
We did not experience any casualties as a result of the enemy attacks.”
