HPG: 8 soldiers killed in Mardin region

The HPG said that 8 soldiers were killed during the 8-day invasion attacks carried out by the Turkish state in Mardin.

The HPG Press Center issued a statement with information detailing the attacks launched by the Turkish army against the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas in the province of Mardin from 27 April to 5 May.

The statement said: “The invading Turkish army, taking advantage of the position of inaction of our guerrilla forces, continued its attacks uninterruptedly, especially in Bakur Kurdistan. Operations against our forces in the province of Mardin were launched on 27 April and continued uninterruptedly until 5 May. Our forces in Mardin defeated the operations launched by the enemy for 8 days by using all war techniques, but also dealt effective blows to the invaders. During the 8-day operation, 8 soldiers were killed, one was injured and our comrade Bahoz Çiya fell as a martyr. The detailed identity information of our comrade, Bahoz Çiya, will be shared with our people and the public later.

In Bagok, our forces targeted and hit an operation column on 30 April and 2 invaders were killed.

On 2 May, the same area was bombed 4 times by warplanes and war helicopters. The enemy expanded the scope of the operation by landing soldiers. On 2 May, there was a conflict between our forces and the invaders, and our comrade Bahoz Çiya fell as a martyr.

Avaşîn region

In the Avaşîn region, our guerrillas stopped the invading soldiers. In this action, 3 soldiers were killed. The Turkish army admitted only one loss.

The attacks carried out by the invading Turkish army:

On 11 May, Garê's Deşta Kafya Area was bombed by warplanes 3 times.

On 12 May, our resistance positions in Sîda were bombed 3 times by heavy weapons."
