HPG: Eight soldiers killed in guerrilla actions

According to HPG, the Turkish army used banned combat equipment seven times against guerrilla positions in Southern Kurdistan on Sunday. As the guerrillas continue to resist, eight Turkish soldiers were killed in their latest actions.

The resistance of the HPG (People's Defence Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) against the invasion of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) continues unabated despite the continued use of prohibited weapons and air attacks by the Turkish army. According to an assessment of the current war situation in the region issued by the HPG press office on Monday, at least four members of the occupation forces were killed in guerrilla actions in the Zap region on Sunday. The same number of soldiers were killed in Xakurke on Thursday.

The actions in the Zap region took place around the Çemço resistance massif. Initially, a soldier was shot dead in the vicinity of the Şehîd Adil positions using sniper tactics. This was later followed by two successive waves of strikes with heavy weapons against an advance attempt by the occupiers on the Şehîd Serxwebûn positions, where three soldiers were killed. In Xakurke, the guerrillas struck the invaders with a sabotage action in the Şêxzade area.

The HPG Press Centre put the number of Turkish army attacks with banned bombs and chemical weapons on guerrilla areas on Sunday at seven. The targets of these attacks were the resistance areas of Karker, Çemço and Sîda. In the same period, 38 airstrikes were recorded, six of them by fighter jets. These were directed against Dola Meranê in Gare and Çemço. Other attacks were carried out with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons. HPG also reported artillery attacks by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Xakurke today.
