HPG: Eight soldiers killed in Şemzinan and Çukurca

HPG/YJA-Star guerrillas have conducted actions in Şemzinan and Çukurca areas of Hakkari, which left 8 soldiers dead and two armored vehicles damaged.

HPG Press Office reported that guerrillas hit the Turkish military units on move with armored vehicles between Hakkari's Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district and the Şapatan area at 14:30 on July 12.

The action targeting the Turkish military convoy between the villages of Meydan and Bedo left five soldiers dead and one armored vehicle damaged. The unit that came to the scene for intervention after the action was also hit, as a result of which 2 more soldiers were killed and another armored vehicle was damaged. The dead and wounded soldiers were taken to the Şemdinli hospital with Sikorsky helicopters.

Turkish troops in the Şemdinli Brigade and Durê outpost bombarded the scene with howitzer, mortar and tank fire which started a fire in the area.

HPG stated that one other soldier was killed as a result of an assassination action conducted by guerrillas targeting the Gırê outpost in Hakkari's Çukurca district at 08:30 on July 12.

At 10:00 on July 12, guerrillas hit the diggers constructing a road for the Turkish army towards the Leylek hill in Oremar area of Hakkari's Yüksekova district. The number of dead or wounded soldiers couldn't be verified.

At between 09.00 - 13.00 on July 12, Turkish troops at Çelê Nımeja, Mılê Gurya and Bespin outposts, Şırnak Division and İkizce Battalion bombed the areas of Gundıkê Remo, Tıkeva and Kursi Keça with howitzer, mortar and tank strikes which also caused a fire in this territory.

On July 12, troops at Zargê hill outpost in Amed's Lice district opened random fire on the surrounding areas. The bombardment started a fire and the locals trying to extinguish it were obstructed by Turkish soldiers.
