The Press Centre of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information on the latest attacks and activities by the Turkish army in Kurdistan territory. According to the statement, civilians are increasingly being targeted by the Turkish army amid increasingly ongoing military operations.
“The colonial Turkish state puts pressure on our nomadic people by imposing bans. The local people in the Geliyê Masiro area in Çatak district of Van have recently been forced to leave their villages and highlands. We call on our people to take a firm stand in the face of these pressures introduced for different reasons,” said the HPG.
The statement continued, with the following details of the latest attacks carried out by the Turkish army against the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan:
“On July 12, between 23:00 and 23:30, Turkish helicopters flew over the Girê Sor area in Avaşîn region. Sikorsky and attack helicopters had to withdraw from the area as a result of an intervention by our forces.
On July 12, between 00:00 and 01:00, Turkish helicopters flew over the Qaşûra area in Metîna region, while the Koordîne area, Êdinê and Seraru villages were bombed by attack helicopters.
On July 12, at 18:30, the Martyr Hawar Hill and Lolan Stream’s vicinity in the Goşînê area in Xakurkê region were bombed by fighter jets.
On July 12, between 23:00 and 00:30, Turkish helicopters flew over the areas of Mervanos, Tabura Ereban, Banista, Mamreşo, Girê Silêman, Girê Spî and Şehîd İntîkam Hill in Avaşîn region.
On July 12, between 23:00 and 00:00 Turkish helicopters flew over the Cîloya Biçûk area of the Zap region. The invading Turkish army airdropped forces on the Martyr Serxwebûn Hill.
On July 12, at 00:20, the Kurojehro area in Zap region was bombed by fighter jets.”
HPG added that guerrillas suffered no casualties as a result of the mentioned bombardments.
