The press centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) published a statement providing information about the guerrilla resistance and the attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) from 15 to 17 December.
According to the statement, details of the latest actions by the guerrillas are as follows:
Xakurkê region
Attack helicopters bombing the Lolan area were intervened at 20:00 on 15 December, at 20:30 on 16 December and at 17:40 on 17 December. After the interventions of our forces, the helicopters had to move away from the area.
On 16 December at 14:00, the invaders at Girê Şehîd Kamuran were targeted with heavy weapons.
The attacks carried out by the Turkish army with banned explosives, chemical gas and drones loaded with explosives are as follows:
On 14, 15 and 16 December, our battle positions in the Girê Ortê Resistance Area in the Metîna region were bombed 41 times with banned explosives and chemical gases. The battle positions were also bombed once with a tactical nuclear bomb.
* On 17 December, our battle positions in Sîda Resistance Area in the Zap region were bombed once with banned explosives.
* On 15, 16 and 17 December, our Şehîd Diyar battle position in the Zap region was bombed 11 times with drones loaded with explosives.
Attacks carried out by the occupying Turkish army
The Turkish army carried out 16 air strikes on 14, 15, 16 and 17 December. The areas of Girê Berbizina, Şehîd Şerîf, Girê Şehîd Hawar, Ava Lolanê, Girê Rostê, Xinêra Jor in Xakurkê region were bombed 8 times; the area of Şehîd Îbrahîm in Zap region were bombed 2 times; the areas of Hefttebax, Gundê Şiyê, Girê Zengil in Garê region were bombed 3 times and the areas of Gundê Dergelê, Golka in Metîna region were bombed 3 times.
The regions of Zap and Xakurkê were bombed by attack helicopters on 14, 15 and 16 December.
The regions of Zap, Şehîd Delîl Western Zap, Metîna and Xakurkê were bombarded with artillery.
