HPG reports Turkish military operations and clashes

Fighting erupted between the guerrillas and Turkish soldiers during the Turkish military operation in the Besta region of Şırnak.

In its daily statement about the war in Kurdistan territory, HPG Press Office said that the Turkish army continues its attacks and operations against the People's Defence Forces (HPG) and Free Women's Troops (YJA Star) unabated despite the cessation of militant actions by the guerrilla forces.

HPG reported ongoing operations by the Turkish army, and clashes between the guerrilla forces and Turkish troops, resulting in losses on both sides.

According to the HPG, fighting erupted between the guerrillas and Turkish soldiers during the Turkish military operation in the Besta region of Şırnak.

According to the latest information, four Turkish soldiers and one village guard were killed in the clashes in the Besta region, where two guerrillas also died. Detailed information about the fighting in the region will be announced once available, HPG added.

On the other hand, HPG reported continued Turkish attacks on the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

On May 15, Turkish troops attacked the Girê FM and Girê Cûdî resistance areas, facing a response from the guerrillas.

On May 15 and 16, Turkish fighter jets carried out 6 strikes on the Girê FM Resistance Area, the vicinity of the Yekmalê village in Garê, as well as the areas of Kanî Sarkê, Girê Zengil and Xêrê.

On May 14, 15 and 16, the areas of Girê FM and Girê Cûdî, the Girê Ortê area in Metîna and the guerrilla positions in Sîda were targeted by 15 attacks with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons.

HPG added that these attacks did not result in casualties in the guerrilla ranks.
