While the occupying Turkish army’s air and ground attacks against the guerrillas continue, reconnaissance aircraft taking off from the KDP-controlled areas in Garê region conduct reconnaissance activities over guerrilla areas.
Despite a unilateral ceasefire announced by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Turkey continues to bomb guerrilla areas in the guerilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq), reported the Press Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) in a written statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, details of the attacks by the Turkish army and the interventions by the guerrilla forces to stop the attacks within the framework of legitimate defense are as follows:
"Attacks carried out by the occupying Turkish army;
On March 4, 5 and 6, Turkish warplanes carried out 8 airstrikes, targeting the areas of Lolan and Şehîd Şerîf in Xakurkê region twice, the areas of Dêreşê, Şehîd Aslan, Heftebax, Xêrê in Garê region five times, and the Bêşîlî Resistance Area in Metîna region once.
On March 4, the Girê Bahar Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region was bombed 9 times by attack helicopters.
On March 4, 5 and 6, the Turkish army carried out a total of 811 attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers:
The areas of Berê Zînê, Lolan, Goşînê, Sinînê in the Xakurkê region were bombed 43 times,
The areas of Sêdarê, Şêranê, Girê Zengil, Girê Reşîd, Girgaşê, Spîndarê, Mijê, Heftebax, Sîser in the Garê region were bombed 191 times,
The areas of Dergelê and Serê Metîna in the Metîna region were bombed 126 times,
The areas of Girê Amediyê and Girê Bahar in the Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were bombed 451 times.
Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region;
On March 5 at 11:06, 1 surveillance camera belonging to the invaders was targeted and destroyed by the guerrillas in Girê Amediyê Resistance Area.
Metîna region;
On March 4 at 12:30 pm, the YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) forces intervened against the invaders who advanced towards our war tunnels in Serê Metîna Resistance Area and called for surrender.
At a time when our forces are in a ceasefire position, small reconnaissance aircraft taking off from the KDP-controlled areas of Qela Saddam and Bakırman in the Garê region conduct reconnaissance activities day and night over our guerrilla areas. In line with the information obtained from this activity, guerrilla areas are bombed. This activity, which jeopardizes the security of our forces, must be stopped. In the contrary case, we will have the right to retaliate against the take-off points in order to maintain our own security. We declare that this is a situation that must be prevented for the sake of our national interests.”
