Eyub Xelil, originally from Kirkuk, participated in the human shield action launched in Bradost on June 24 against the Turkish state attacks on Bashur (South Kurdistan). He was detained in Sidekan, Hewler by the KDP Asayish (security) forces as he was returning to Kirkuk on July 8.
Eyub Xelil has been in custody for 23 days, held in Hewler Asayish headquarters for 15.
Eyub Xelil’s brother Ismail Xelil said they appealed to the Hewler General Asayish on July 27: “We learned that my brother is in the dungeons. I saw my brother, his health was not bad. He has been held in the Hewler General Asayish for 15 days. We were told that Eyub was detained for ‘manufacturing explosives’. We expect he will face a judge, but it is not clear when.”
