KODAR Co-chair calls for participation in struggle to avenge the death of PJAK commander

“The best response to the martyrdom of Rêzan Cavîd and all those who have fallen, is to participate in the struggle and enhance the struggle for freedom,” said the Co-chair of KODAR.

The Society for Democracy and Freedom (Komelgeya Demokratîk û Azad a Rojhilatê Kurdistan, KODAR) Co-chair Fuad Beritan released a statement paying tribute to KODAR Executive Council Member Yusîf Rebanî (Nom de Guerre: Rêzan Cavid) who fell a martyr as a result of a Turkish drone attack in Sina, Qamishlo, on 6 August.

Yusîf Rebanî, also a member of the command of the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK), was from Mahabad in East Kurdistan and joined the Kurdish liberation movement in 2003. He participated in the founding congress of PJAK in 2004 and worked in the media sector for a long time. In 2014, he was elected co-chair of KODAR.

“It is obvious that freedom cannot be achieved easily. Our people have been fighting for unity for years and making the greatest sacrifices to this end,” said Fuad Bêrîtan.

The Co-chair of KODAR remarked that the martyrdom of companions laid a mission and responsibility on them, stating the following, “The best way to avenge martyrs is to initiate a new breakthrough and struggle. It is understood once again today that our people have nobody but themselves. For this very reason, we have no path to take other than increase the struggle and succeed. We can be worthy of our martyrs by eliminating our insufficiencies. Those who do fail to understand the martyrs and fulfil their responsibilities for them possess no meaning for life.

Rêzan Cavîd was the most precise example of resistance and revolutionism. He managed to preserve the values of revolution throughout his entire life. Rêzan Cavîd did what needed to be done. On this basis, we are going through a process when everyone should do their part and mission.

The best response to the martyrdom of Rêzan Cavîd and all those who have fallen, is to participate in the struggle and enhance the struggle for freedom. We call on the people of East Kurdistan, and especially the people of Mahabad, not to leave the weapon of Martyr Rêzan on the ground. Hundreds of the likes of Rêzan should join the guerrilla ranks.”
