Kurdish alliance votes increase by 20,000 in Kirkuk

PUK Kirkuk Election Bureau Head Şêrzad Samet stated that the special vote counting in Kirkuk was completed and announced that the ‘Kirkuk is Our Strength and Will’ alliance received 20 thousand more votes.

Speaking to Rojnews, the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) Kirkuk Branch Election Bureau Head Şêrzad Samet said the following about the increase in the votes won by the ‘Kirkuk is Our Strength and Will’ alliance: "The counting of special votes in 112 ballot boxes in Kirkuk has been completed. After the recount of the special votes, the ‘Kirkuk is Our Strength and Our Will’ alliance received 20 thousand more votes. However, these votes have not yet been effective in PUK winning another seat."

Referring to the calculation of votes according to the Sant Ligo system, Şêrzad Samet said, "With these increased votes, there is a possibility for the PUK to increase the number of seats."

After 10 years, Iraqi provincial council elections were held on December 18. According to the Iraqi Supreme Election Commission, the participation rate in the elections stood at 41 percent.
