Kurdistan Region Human Rights Commission chair calls for release of Behdinan prisoners

Muna Yaqo, chair of the Kurdistan Region Human Rights Commission, said that they are monitoring the hunger strike of the Behdinan prisoners and confirmed that the strike continues.

Muna Yaqo, chair of the Kurdistan Region Human Rights Commission, made a press statement on the situation of the prisoners from Behdinan who are on hunger strike. Yaqo said that she was at Hewlêr Men's Prison on Sunday morning to examine the situation of the prisoners on hunger strike and to discuss their release.

Yaqo said: “The hunger strike the prisoners started demanding to be released continues. The prisoners also demand an immediate solution in line with legal procedures to examine the obstacles to their parole.”

Yaqo said that the General Director of Kurdistan Region Prisons, Ihsan Ebdulrehman, was with them and she added that the commission called on the authorities to accept the demands of the prisoners.
