Maxmur People's Assembly co-chair Leyla Arzu İlhan said dismissal of Maxmur residents from their jobs in Hewler and Sulaymaniya, and the denial of entry to Hewler for Maxmur people was unacceptable.

İlhan remarked that these attacks and obstructions basically aimed to make Maxmur people surrender and to evacuate Maxmur, saying: “These attacks are being developed by the Turkish state and KDP together. However, these policies have been implemented for 22 years now, but failed to make us surrender. It should be known that these policies will yield no results in the future either.”

ilhan stressed that everyone should act more carefully in these days when national congress is being talked about, and called on the KDP to end this policy immediately.

According to İlhan, the Turkish state is realizing the current repressive policy over the KDP and resorting to every dirty method possible to cow Maxmur people into submission.

İlhan pointed out that the economic crisis is being put forward as a reason in the dismissal of workers from Maxmur from their jobs in Hewler and Sulaymaniyah. She remarked that the goal of the dismissals was to break the will of Maxmur people, adding: "KDP has pursued this policy against Maxmur since 2014 and it intends to eliminate the system built in Maxmur and to teach the people manners with poverty."

Recalling that the people of Maxmur have faced with similar policies for 22 years now, İlhan said the people did not surrender but on the contrary built their own system and protected their will in the face of the suppression they were subject to. She emphasised that they will continue doing the same thing and respond to the attacks and practices that aim to evacuate the Maxmur Camp by making the residents surrender.

Calling attention to the efforts to intimidate the Southern Kurdistan people over the democratic system established in Maxmur, İlhan said: "This is why they want to isolate Maxmur from the society of Southern Kurdistan with the ultimate goal of evacuating the camp here. This is being developed by the Turkish state and KDP together.” İlhan also recalled that the Turkish state started to say that it was ready to welcome the people of Maxmur when ISIS attacked the territory in 2014.

İlhan said these attacks are being developed by those who are afraid of Kurds' national unity and want to obstruct it. She added that this is an unfortunate policy pursued by the KDP, with the Turkish state standing in the backstage as the actor that provokes this attack.
