Maxmur refugees prevented from leaving camp to protest embargo

The Hewlêr-Maxmur road had been closed by the authorities following the killing of 3 people in an attack aimed at Turkish consul employees at a restaurant in Hewlêr on 17 July.
The KDP public order forces have been imposing an embargo on Martyr Rüstem Cudi (Maxmur) Refugee Camp for 11 days and no one is allowed to leave the camp and enter Hewlêr.
The people of Maxmur organized a mass march against the embargo imposed by the KDP on the camp in the morning.
Thousands of refugees set out for Hewlêr to protest against the embargo. The people trying to march out of Maxmur was stopped by Iraqi soldiers.
Hundreds of Iraqi soldiers do not allow people to leave the Camp.
While negotiations between the Iraqi military and the people continue, the refugees said they are determined to march towards Hewlêr to protest against the embargo.
