Member of Yazidi Asayish killed in Turkish aerial attack

The Ezidxane Asayish (Yazidi Public Security) announced the martyrdom of Şêrzad Şemo Kasım in an attack carried out by the invading Turkish state in Shengal.

The invading Turkish state carried out an airstrike on a vehicle of the Yazidi local security force (Ezidxane Asayish) in the centre of the Yazidi town of Shengal (Sinjar) in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) at noon today.

“We know that the KDP and the invading Turkish state are involved in this attack,” said the Ezidxane Asayish, announcing that Şêrzad Şemo Kasım, a top member of the Ezidxane Asayish, was martyred in the attack. The statement added that detailed information about the attack would be released later on.

“As the Ezidxane Asayish, we offer our condolences to our patriotic people and the family of Martyr Şêrzad Şemo. We are ready to pay any price for the defence of the Ezidxane Asayish, our people and Êzidxan,” the statement said.

Pointing to efforts to “resume the previous genocides against our people”, Ezidxane Asayish called on the Yazidi people to take a stand against these genocidal attacks.

“We reiterate our determination once again and insist that we will not leave the defence of our people and Êzidxan to any other force.”

Today’s attack came after a Turkish airstrike that targeted a vehicle belonging to the YBŞ (Shengal Resistance Units) in Khanasor (Xanesor) on February 27. The attack claimed the lives of YBŞ commanders Pîr Çeko and Agir Cefri.

The people of Shengal are expected to protest the attacks of the invading Turkish state in Xanesor today.
