Mesopotamia Beliefs Platform calls for sensitivity against provocations in Shengal

The Mesopotamia Beliefs Platform called for sensitivity against provocations in Shengal.

The Mesopotamia Beliefs Platform said in a statement that the provocations carried out within the framework of the strategy of clashing religious beliefs in Shengal were aimed at sabotaging the status gained through resistance. These provocations were evaluated as part of the hostile policy towards Shengal by the Baghdad, Ankara and Hewler administrations.

The statement said: "On the one hand, they bring families who are supporters of ISIS to the region. On the other hand, they provoke faith-based communities against each other. The main purpose of these provocations is to abolish the de facto status achieved in Shengal with blood, tears and extraordinary resistance. The strengthening of the political model based on freedom, egalitarian and common life philosophy has frightened the existing power groups. Regional hegemonic powers and their local collaborators do their best to keep the status quo based on tyranny and exploitation unchanged."

The statement underlined that there are groups of powers interested in continuing the Yazidi genocide, and added that the protection of the Yazidi community will only be possible if the autonomous status of Shengal is guaranteed by the constitution. "ISIS and similar mentalities must be eradicated in Mesopotamia, the cradle of faith, so that they never grow again. We call on our people to be sensitive about the current and possible provocations."
