Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) is holding a meeting in Brussels to determine the national stance against the Turkish invasion.
Kurdish political parties and organizations gathered at the Brussels Press Club to determine a national stance under the KNK umbrella.
Participants are discussing Turkish invasions and the reasons for them, expressing their protest and working to determine a joint stance. The meeting aims to produce a national stance document.
KNK Administrator Zubeyir Ayar said, “We will discuss what stance should be taken against the invasions.”
KNK Co-chair Nilufer Koc gave the opening speech and said, “I hope this meeting will uphold the memory of one of the greatest martyrs of Kurdistan, Diyar Xerib (Helmet).”
Koc said: “Friend Helmet was martyred because they wanted to stop a strong response from developing in Southern Kurdistan. With Friend Helmet’s martyrdom, the invasion attacks were exposed as directly targeting Southern Kurdistan.”
“The Turkish state wants to destroy all gains by the Kurdish people,” said Koc and pointed to the Turkish support for ISIS gangs and the invasion attacks against Rojava.
Koc pointed out that the Turkish state aims to destroy the Kurds’ image in the international arena with the attacks: “They want to start a war among Kurds. This is not a war among Kurds. This is a war between the Kurds and the Turkish state.” Koc said the Turkish state dreams of the Misak-i Milli (“National Pact”) borders to that end. Koc said the Turkish state thinks strategicaly, and so should the Kurds.
Koc stated that the Turkish state targets the whole of Kurdistan with the invasion attempt, and made a call. “Let us not abandon these lands to this state that has created such trouble for the world,” said Koc and added that the Turkish state is headed for a collapse. Koc concluded with: “We must unite our forces to take down this regime.”
The meeting continues.
