A Turkish drone struck a vehicle of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) earlier today. The attack took place near a checkpoint of the Iraqi army in the village of Behrava in Xanesor (Khanasor) town. According to the YBŞ Command, the car was struck twice but the attack did not result in casualties.
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Shengal issued a statement condemning the attack and pointing to “joint attacks” by the KDP, Iraq and Turkey against the Yazidi town.
“While the Turkish state’s against Shengal have increased lately, the KDP tries to depopulate Shengal in parallel with the attacks directed at the region as part of a special warfare,” the statement said.
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Shengal pointed out that, “The attack against YBŞ forces in Behreva coincided with the Turkish intelligence service (MIT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan’s visit to Baghdad, strengthening doubts that Baghdad was a partner in the attacks.”
The Autonomous Administration stressed that plans to depopulate Shengal would not succeed.
