A huge explosion occurred in Salihiyê neighborhood of Hesekê at around 19:45 Tuesday evening. According to witnesses, the blast occurred when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the Sala bakery after getting off a motorbike and moving towards the crowd in the area.

Many people suffered injuries in the blast and taken to Wetenî, Hitmê and military hospitals.

According to hospital sources, 16 people including 3 children and 2 women lost their lives.

Asayish (public security) units started an investigation at the scene.

Hesekê People's Assembly announced three-day mourning for the victims and all the Eid events have been cancelled. The Assembly also called upon the people to keep away from crowded areas.
