ISIS gang Abdurrahim Xalit İbrahim captured by the YPG stated that Turkey continues to send arms, ammunition and jihadists to ISIS mainly through Jarablus and Til Rai.
‘OUR WOUNDED RECEIVE TREATMENT IN TURKEY’
Captured ISIS gang Abdurrahim Xalit İbrahim stated that ISIS members injured in Syria and Rojava had easy access to medical treatment in Turkey and shaved their beards before entering Turkey in order to avoid detection. İbrahim noted that the Turkish state was well aware about the injured gangs’ membership in ISIS, and thousands of injured ISIS members have received treatment in Turkey so far. İbrahim said that Jarablus and Til Ria are the common routes for injured gangs seeking treatment today, and many houses on the Turkish side of the border are used for ISIS operations. İbrahim noted that before Urfa and Antep, Akçakale was the main route of ISIS operations prior to YPG’s liberation of Girê Spî.
‘ISIS AND TURKEY ARE ALLIES, THEY WILL NOT FIGHT ONE ANOTHER!'
İbrahim stated that several institutions organized the communication and flow of militants between Turkey and ISIS, and the two forces had many shared goals. İbrahim said that news articles suggesting a disagreement between ISIS and Turkey did not reflect the truth, and the Turkish state helped ISIS by sending arms, ammunition and food supplies to Syria. İbrahim noted that ISIS members could freely travel inside Turkey, and use border gates during the day and other parts of the border during the night for entering and leaving Syria.
‘INCOMING MILITANTS TRAVEL THROUGH TURKEY’
İbrahim stated that the majority of incoming militants traveled through Turkey before joining ISIS in Syria, and this enabled the Turkish state to influence ISIS. İbrahim noted that ISIS has been weakening since the closure of the Girê Spî border gate, and the decrease in the flow of petroleum has inflicted a blow on the gangs’ economy. İbrahim noted that the decrease in ISIS military successes also had a negative impact on the gangs since ISIS received income through looting newly captured territories. İbrahim stated that YPG and SDF victories against ISIS caused many gangs to escape ISIS, and the military capacity of the gangs is at an all time low.
'AKP HAS NO FRIENDS OTHER THAN ISIS'
İbrahim said that the Turkish state did not want the border to be controlled by the YPG, and tried to prevent further loss of ISIS territory because AKP has no friends other than ISIS.
'YPG UPSET OUR PLANS’
Lastly, İbrahim stated that the trade between Turkey and ISIS continues despite the decrease after the YPG’s capture of Girê Spî, and the YPG upset the plans of Turkey and ISIS with its military successes.
