‘Turkey’s targeted attacks against commanders of Shengal is an ISIS method’

The Yazidi House in the Cizire Region of North-East Syria denounces the Turkish state’s latest targeted attacks in Shengal and the international silence on the never-ending attacks.

The Turkish state has recently taken action for further massacres in the Yazidi town of Shengal (Sinjar), which was subjected to genocide by ISIS mercenaries on August 3, 2014, and was liberated on November 13, 2015, after months of resistance led by HPG guerrillas and Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ).

As a result of Turkey's latest attacks, YBŞ commanders Pîr Çeko and Agir Cefri were killed on February 27, and Yazidi Public Security Executive Member Şêrzad Şemo Kasım was killed on March 1 by Turkish air strikes. These attacks by the Turkish state took place right after an operation by the YBŞ and Shengal Asayish against MIT (Turkish intelligence service) agents deployed to Shengal by the KDP. Two MIT agents, named Seed Casim Mirad and Selah Berces were captured during the operations of the Shengal security forces, which were carried out on February 24 and dubbed "Revenge Operations".

The Yazidi House in the Cizire Region of North-East Syria released a statement denouncing the Turkish state’s latest targeted attacks against commanders of the YBŞ and Yazidi Asayish and the international silence on Turkey’s never-ending attacks.

The statement by the Yazidi House said:

“The occupying Turkish state targets the people of Shengal before the eyes of the world. Do we have no right to ask why it does so, or why the world remains silent? Does the world politics that claims to be defending human rights have its moral collapse?

Has the world forgotten how the Turkish-backed terror organization subjected the people of Shengal to genocide, abducted women and buried people alive? The Turkish state’s targeted aerial attacks against commanders in Shengal is an ISIS method.

Despite our appeals to those who claim to be defending Shengal, the Turkish state continues its attacks. And, the truth is not heard. While ISIS mercenaries possessed with terrorist ideas put the Yazidis to genocide, the Turkish state started to target the local people after the European Parliament’s recognition of Shengal mass slaughter as genocide.

The Turkish state claims its efforts to eradicate our people to be ‘legitimate’ and the Iraqi state, supposedly responsible for Shengal and its people, watches these attacks in silence. The same applies to the Kurdistan Region government, which is occupied with anything but Shengal.”
