Two human shield activists taken into custody in Bashur

South Kurdistan security forces arrested two young persons who participated in the "Human Shield" action against the occupation attempts of the Turkish state.

RojNews reports that two members of the Kurdistan Patriotic Youth Movement, who participated in the human shield action in Qandil, have been taken into custody by the Asayish (security) forces of southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

Those detained are reported to be Mihemed Newzad from Chamchamal and Rênwar Eli from Sengeser town of Sulaymaniyah.

Kurdistan Patriotic Youth Movement Administrator Hiwa Kerküki said that; “Mihemed Newzad was arrested in Sengeser after returning from the human shield action in Binare Qandil. Mihemed Newzad went to the Asayish centre to get information about his friend's whereabouts, whereupon he also ended up in custody. There is no reason for their detention.”

Hiwa Kerkuki stated that they have been unable to establish any contact with the two activists since their arrest and know nothing about their whereabouts.
