The Turkish state, which has launched invasion attacks from time to time in South Kurdistan since the 1980s, has never been condemned in the international arena because of its NATO membership.

Ciwanên Netewî yên Kurdistanê-Kurdistan National Youth (CNK) spokesperson Jiyan Timurtaş and Azadî Movement spokesperson Metin Pîranî spoke to ANF about the Turkish state's invasion attacks in the region. Reminding that the Turkish state has been carrying out attacks on South Kurdistan for almost 40 years, CNK spokesperson Jiyan Timurtas reminded that the attacks were carried out not only in the South but also in Rojava.

Noting that the Turkish state carried out these attacks in order to create instability in the regions where Kurds govern themselves, Timurtaş added: "Of course, the Turkish state, which carried out these attacks, exploits the contradictions between Kurdish policies. Every part of Kurdistan has its own conditions. These attacks are a problem for the entire Kurdish nation.

That is why the existing Kurdish policies should struggle following an anti-colonialist line. Because the Turkish state itself attacks Kurdistan, not the parties in the government. Therefore, the existing Kurdistan parties should approach the issue in a more serious way than just making statements. Kurdistan cannot be defended by politics disconnected from the people."

Iraqi central government is supporting Turkish attacks

Stating that the Iraqi central government was under the attacks of the Turkish state, Azadi Movement spokesperson Metin Pîranî said: "These attacks are being carried out with the approval and support of the Iraqi central government and have increased in recent years. It is because of the tacit consent of the central government that Turkey has been able to attack easily.”

Pîranî added: “Kurdish politicians should have done many things to counter this. Especially in North Kurdistan, there are dozens of formations that call themselves parties, civil society organizations and associations. But despite all this, there is a great silence. Our people may have worries, but there is a passivity in the leaderships. A role and mission based on Kurdish national interests in general should be put forward. Kurdish achievements must be preserved."
