On the anniversary of the 9 October 1998 conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan and the Baghdad agreement against Shengal on 9 October 2020, a workshop titled ‘Freedom Struggle and Peoples’ Alliance Against the State and Power Crisis' started in Shengal (Sinjar) on Wednesday.
The workshop is attended by 60 people from Yazidi, Arab and Turkmen components.
Delivering the opening speech of the workshop, Qasim Murad, a member of the Education Committee of the Democratic Society of Shengal, pointed out that life, society, war and politics today are built on two foundations; real democracy and the sovereign system ruled by hegemonic powers.
Qasim Murad criticised that the people were being melted by the system and said, “There is only one way to prevent this; the democratic freedom system created by Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Hegemonic powers are planning together to block this path to a solution."
Pointing to the 9 October conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Qasim Murad stated that the conspiracy was an international plan and said: “International powers violate human rights by supporting the isolation of Leader Öcalan. If they are sincere in their claims of defending human rights, then they should ensure the physical freedom of Öcalan, who is a symbol of peace for the whole world.”
Qasim Murad stated that the ideas of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan have spread all over the world and that the peoples of the world should now implement Abdullah Öcalan's demand for freedom.
Regarding the situation in Shengal, Qasim Murad stated the following: “Everyone sees the situation of the components in Shengal. The peoples of Iraq and especially the people of Shengal have not seen any good from the state system, they have not been granted any rights. We, too, have to seek a solution to protect ourselves from oppression and genocide. Shengal is making great progress with the democratic nation system. The fact that we can utilise the power crisis together is a big step towards unity.”
Workshop participants expressed their views on the subject and presented their suggestions for strengthening the democratic nation system.
The workshop continues with evaluations and discussions.
