Since 23 April, the Turkish army has been trying to conquer and occupy the regions of Avashin, Zap and Metîna, which are defended by the guerrillas. The guerrillas successfully countered the attacks with the “Bazên Zagrosê” offensive. Gulan Avaşîn is a commander in the female guerrilla YJA-Star, which is part of this offensive. In an interview with the ANF, she said: “We are currently in our positions in Avashin. The ongoing war here is not new to us. There have been many operations and clashes in the history of our struggle. But we have always resisted to these operations and heavy blows were dealt to the enemy."

"German tactics from World War II"

Regarding the current Turkish invasion under the name “Operation Klauen-Blitz”, commander Avaşîn said: “The operation uses the same tactics as the Germans in World War II. It aims to break the line of defense with sudden attacks. Therefore, violent attacks are taking place with cobra attack helicopters, Sikorsky helicopters and fighter planes.”

"The situation of the Turkish soldiers is tragicomic"

The YJA-Star commander continued:“As is well known, Erdoğan is not Ataturk and the guerrillas are not like any other force. From the beginning of the operation, we have dealt the enemy heavy blows. The spirit of apoism is a spirit of sacrifice. In Mamreşo, Metîna and Zap the battle is waged with martyr Zîlan's spirit. The situation of the Turkish soldiers is tragic-comic. When a leaf rustles, they fire around with mortars and howitzers. Their situation is really tragicomic."

"We will make the Turkish army regret coming here"

Commander Avaşîn added: “As guerrilla forces in the Medya Defense Areas, we not only carry out the resistance, but we also take an offensive approach. We can strike at any moment; we will make the Turkish army regret coming here. People can only understand themselves if they live on their own land and defends their own land. As people born and raised in this country, our attachment to our country will lead us to deal the worst blows to the enemy.
