YRK: Two female guerrillas martyred in Turkish air attack

Two female guerrilla fighters were martyred in Turkish air strike in the Iraq-Iran border area last Saturday.

The East Kurdistan Defense Units (YRK) Command released a statement announcing the martyrdom of two female guerrillas in southern Kurdistan on Saturday. YRK pointed out that there have recently been increased attacks on the guerrillas by the Turkish and Iranian states.

"There are attempts to hit our forces mainly through air strikes," the YRK Command said and continued, "On June 19, 2021, a vehicle was bombed by a Turkish aircraft. In the vehicle were two of our friends who were returning from an assignment in Sharbajar district near Sulaymaniyah. Our friends Ekin and Adar were martyred in the attack, details of which and information on the identities of those martyred will be released at a later date."

According to the statement, airstrikes caused property damage to civilian cultivation areas. YRK extended its condolences to the families of the fallen fighters and the Kurdish people, and vowed to enhance the struggle.
