45 gang members killed, 12 taken captive in Aleppo

Clashes are going on in Aleppo since armed gang groups acting for the Free Syrian Army (FSA) attacked the control points of YPG (People's Defense Units) and the Kurdish al-Akrad Front in Kurdish neighborhoods on Friday afternoon.

An armed group led by Xalid Heyani and the Rebii El Erebi group, accompanied by Selahaddin Brigade and some groups affiliated to Azadi Party, launched the attack against YPG control points in the mainly Kurdish Sheik Maksoud (Şêx Meqsûd), Esrefiye, Sekin Şebabi and Şiqêf neighborhoods of Aleppo city.

YPG and al-Akrad fighters strongly responded to the heavy weapon attacks of the gang groups which were later joined and supported by some other radical Islamist groups including al-Sham, Diri al-Cebel, al-Islam and Şuheda-i Syria brigades.

20 members of the jihadist groups were killed in the neighborhoods of Sheik Maksoud and Şiqêf, 15 in Kolona and 10 in Seken Şebabi in clashes with YPG fighters.

At least 45 members of the gang groups acting for FSA have been killed and dozens of others wounded in clashes with YPG in the last five days. YPG also took 12 gang members captive and destroyed two vehicles carrying antiaircraft weapons used by the groups.

38 year old civilian Reşid Dawid was killed and two other civilians were wounded in the artillery shootings of some gang groups affiliated to FSA's Military Assembly in Aleppo targeting Kurdish neighborhoods on Sunday evening.

On September 7, the Islamist groups' howitzer attack against Kurdish neighborhoods left three civilians dead and eleven others wounded, included three children.
