Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar: Open the doors of Imrali

DBP co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, in her speech at her party's Antep congress, drew attention to isolation and stated that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom is essential for a solution to the Kurdish question.

The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Antep (Dîlok) Provincial Organization convened its 7th Ordinary Congress with the slogan "Towards a free life with an organized society."

The congress, held in a wedding hall in the Şehitkamil (Aleban) district, was attended by DBP co-chair Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, political party representatives, civil society organization representatives and many party members.

Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar protested the occupation attacks by the Turkish state in South Kurdistan in her speech at the congress and said: "Kurds must declare their national unity" against the occupation, oppression and assimilation policies.

"A Turkey without AKP and MHP government is everyone's demand,” said Uçar, adding: "The Kurdish issue is at the root of all the problems experienced today."

Reminding that no news has been received from the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the other prisoners in Imali for 41 months, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar said: "The physical freedom of the Kurdish People's Leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is essential for the democratic solution of the Kurdish problem. The government needs Mr. Öcalan. Open the gates of Imrali. Mr. Öcalan has an influence on the people of Turkey. The AKP government is afraid of the 'Pêşî Peya' writings written on the streets by the municipalities. What is there to be afraid of? They are currently attacking the halay and slogans that are indispensable for the Kurds. Even if they try to criminalize, the slogan 'Bijî Serok Apo' is a truth. No matter how much they try to criminalize it, we will continue to chant the slogan 'Bijî Serok Apo', which is the slogan of peace."

Candan Yavuzer and Mehmet Özkan were elected as DBP Antep Provincial co-chairs.
