Ömer Öcalan: We will continue our Justice Vigil until we get results

HDP Urfa MP Ömer Öcalan said that they will continue their vigil in front of the Ministry of Justice until the absolute isolation is ended.

HDP Urfa MP Ömer Öcalan stated that he has applied for a visit twice a week and that he has not yet received an answer from the Turkish Ministry of Justice and emphasized that they would insist on holding the meeting.

Speaking to ANF about the vigil carried out by Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputies in front of the Ministry of Justice against the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, Urfa MP Ömer Öcalan said that the isolation has been absolute since 2015.

Vigil to continue until it gets results

Ömer Öcalan said: “The source of social problems, the tension within society, the politics of destruction and death that have continued since 2015, started in Imralı. We know that there has been heavy isolation since 2015 and there has been no contact with Mr. Öcalan for 21 months. We held the Gemlik March in June 2022 and rallies in Adana and Batman demanding to end the isolation in Imralı 20 days ago. We have carried out diplomatic activities at many levels. There has been work in Europe. Ambiguity arose regarding the CPT's visit to Imralı between 20 and 29 September. Asrın Law Office's statements about whether the CPT held a meeting in Imralı or not were very worrying. As all this became a matter of discussion, the HDP decided to hold a "Justice Vigil" in front of the Ministry of Justice. The vigil in front of the Ministry of Justice will continue until the absolute isolation ends, the result is obtained, and this democratic and legitimate demand is accepted.”

Isolation is illegal

Noting that Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan's paradigm is known for its importance for the Kurdish people, Ömer Öcalan stated that what this paradigm proposes is a new system against chaos, war, conflict and death in the Middle East.

Öcalan said: “It is the hope of societies to live and live together. We will continue our actions and activities to break this isolation. Our aim here is to get results. There is no such illegal, unlawful, arbitrary approach anywhere in the world. At the moment, neither Turkey's laws nor international law are applied in Imrali. It is almost a state of lawlessness. We will continue our struggle until this unlawfulness is lifted.”

We want to get information

Öcalan said that he constantly applies for visits both as a family and as a member of parliament, and said that they are concerned about the health and safety of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan. Öcalan. “We are pushing many aspects of the law technically. Human rights institutions and our members of parliament apply. Neither a positive nor negative response is given. I apply twice a week but get no answer. We will insist on these applications. The way out against AKP-MHP fascism, which has been trying to build a system of corruption and collapse since 2015, is the talks to be held in Imrali. Mr. Öcalan needs to share his ideas and thoughts with the entire public. At the same time, we want to receive information about his safety and health.”
