AKP to announce the democracy package next week

Making a speech at the All Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜMSİAD) meeting on Thursday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that the democracy package prepared by the government will be announced next week.

Commenting on the military coups staged in Turkey so far, Erdoğan defended that Turkey had paid a true great price on May 27, 1960, much earlier than 12 September military coup. He claimed that “The deep wounds inflicted by 27 May intervention still remain unrelieved, this is why the 12 September (1981), 12 March (1971) and 28 February (1997) military coups were staged later”.

Also speaking about the Gezi Park protests across the country, Erdoğan alleged that the CHP (Republican People's Party) was behind the protests.

Criticizing the statements on the domination of a dictator ruling in Turkey, Erdoğan claimed that people could enjoy all freedoms in Turkey.

Erdoğan remarked that the democracy package will be announced to public next week after the finalization of debates on several points of the package.
