An indefinite and non-alternate hunger strike in continuing on the 36th day in the French city of Strasburg. Alevi Unions Federation members in France yesterday paid a visit to the hunger strikers.
The delegation that included administrative members of the Federation and a number of Alevi faith believers, met with the activists on hunger strike. The co-chair of the Federation, Hakan Akça spoke on behalf of the group.
Akça stated that their visit meant an expression of support to the hunger strike campaign, “We respectfully greet everyone involved in this campaign,” he said.
Akça pointed out to the genocide and assimilations carried out against the Kurd and Alevis, “We will continue to unite over our universal rights that are based upon freedom and peace, and we shall endure our struggle for the Kurdish and Alevi people,” he added.
Akça called on international organizations and officials to respond the demands of the hunger strikers and find an immediate solution.
“We will strongly support the hunger strike campaign, and we will act united. Leyla Guven initiated this campaign to end the strict isolation [imposed upon Abdullah Ocalan]. We greet her action, and on behalf of the Alevi Unions Federation, we declare that we will not remain silent before this critical phase,” said Akça.
The co-chair of the KCDK-E, Yüksel Koç spoke on behalf of the activists on hunger strike and thanked the visit paid by members of the Alevis.
“Our struggle is not only for the Kurdish people, it is for all peoples and beliefs,” said Koç, adding that the isolation is in fact forced upon anyone who advocates democracy.
Koç called upon everyone to initiate activities in order to defeat Erdogan’s fascism, and protect democracy.
