Alevis in Dortmund go on hunger strike

The Alevi association (DAKME) of Dortmund announced that some of its members will go on hunger strike to support Leyla Güven.

DAKME, which is part of FEDA, the Federation of Alevi associations, have announced that its members will go on hunger strike to support the action by HDP Hakkari MP, Leyla Güven, and hundreds of prisoners and activists fasting all over Europe, Kurdistan and Turkey.

In the statement issued, DAKME recalled that Leyla Güven, “a woman, a mother, a people’s representative” has been on hunger strike for over 70 days.

The statement confirmed that on 24 January at 8 am, members of DAKME will go on indefinite alternate hunger strike to support the HDP Hakkari MP and called on everyone to show solidarity and support.
