Autonomous Kurdistan: A project of mutual life

Co-chair of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Ahmet Türk released the recent decisions taken in the course of the permanent Assembly meetings held in Diyarbakir the other day. “Autonomous Kurdistan project is accepted as the base for the solution and it the project for living together” said Türk. DTK also defined the ceasefire by KCK as a historical opportunity not to be missed and urged the Turkish state bring an end to the military and political operations.

Negotiations should start

Türk also called for steps in order to create trust so that the negotiations can star. He also stated that preparing a new democratic constitution, releasing the unlawfully arrested Kurdish politicians and peace group members as well as reducing the election threshold will be the on the top of the list.

DTK also said that they are aiming at meeting anyone including imprisoned Kurdish leader Öcalan and the PKK who could contribute the solution. “Working for the Kurdish national unity is also our agenda” added Türk.

Regarding the boycott campaign Ahmet Türk said: “Boycott decision is a matter of principle for us and we will continue our approach.”

Ahmet Türk further stated that both the Turkish and Kurdish sides do not want war and laying down the weapons will help them to understand each other.
