Aydeniz: Turkey deplores the attacks in Palestine but bombs mosques and hospitals in Kurdistan

DBP co-chair Saliha Aydeniz pointed out that Erdoğan deplores the bombing of prayer rooms, clinics and schools in Palestine while attacking mosques, hospitals and civilians in Kurdistan.

In Turkey, protests against Israel and propagandistic support for Hamas have been taking place in many places for several days. In the Kurdish province of Amed (tr. Diyarbakir), a rally was held by the Islamist party Hüda Par, in which Israel was described as a danger to Turkey and Muslims.

Saliha Aydeniz, co-chair of the DBP (Democratic Regions Party) and member of parliament, referred to Turkey's attacks in the autonomous region of northern and eastern Syria in this context at a press conference in Amed on Wednesday. The Kurdish politician explained that the Turkish army has been bombing hospitals and the electricity and water supply in the region since 5 October: "These attacks are no different from the attacks by ISIS and other Islamist organisations. They are crimes against humanity, but the whole world is silent about it."

Saliha Aydeniz continued: "Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced a week ago that they would smash the system in Rojava and attack the people's living space. Netanyahu has made the same statement for Gaza. While the whole world reacts to Netanyahu's statements, no one says anything about Fidan's words. However, both statements are the product of the same mentality. Rojava also needs a voice. Those who applaud Hakan Fidan are also encouraging Netanyahu."

Commenting on Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan's statements on Palestine, Saliha Aydeniz said: "Erdoğan talks about merciless bombing of prayer houses, hospitals and schools and the world remains silent. He asks where human rights are. We say: They bombed a mosque in Maxmur and a hospital in Dêrik. They injured five women in a cotton field. They murdered two children aged nine and ten in Ain Issa. Where are human rights? This is open hostility towards the Kurds. The Speaker of Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş says that without peace in the Middle East there can be no peace in the world. The key to peace in the Middle East is Abdullah Öcalan, who has been isolated for years. In Rojava, the system presented by Öcalan is being implemented. The attacks are aimed at destroying this system. The Turkish state and the AKP/MHP coalition want to eliminate the freedom of the Kurds."

Saliha Aydeniz demanded that a stand be taken against these attacks, saying: "If the Middle East is to be democratised, the question of Palestine/Israel and the Kurdish question must be resolved. We appeal to the United Nations: It is not enough to just write reports. The UN must finally fulfil its responsibility. They must stop the human rights violations in the occupied regions of Afrin, Serêkaniyê (Ras al-Ain) and Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) in northern Syria. We also appeal to Russia, the USA and France to close the airspace over Rojava. The embargo against Rojava must be lifted."
