MHP (Nationalist Movement Party) chairman Devlet Bahçeli, issued a written statement saying: "The Republic of Turkey stands at a historic threshold, empowered by its open destiny, its spirit of national unity and solidarity, its foundation of justice, essential to the state, and the heritage of moral values accumulated over centuries."

He continued: "Respect, affection, and loyalty between Turks and Kurds have been embodied and consolidated within the noble Turkish nation, and no signs of rupture, division, or weakening have ever been observed. While the shadow of wars and conflicts, triggering chain reactions globally, has imposed itself on humanity and many regions, the Century of Turkey marks a tremendous leap, a magnificent historical momentum driven by a renewed awakening of peace and harmony."

Bahçeli noted that the MHP has resolutely advocated for a terror-free Turkey since 22 October 2024, and added: "The Nationalist Movement Party has not fallen into the trap of provocation or populist rhetoric. Our party and the People’s Alliance have never taken a step back. In particular, both the Imralı delegation and the DEM Party have accurately and carefully assessed the risks and threats facing our country. With unity in action, purpose, and destiny, I believe we must now proceed with even greater caution, calmness, and common sense."

Peace must be lasting and realistic

Bahçeli emphasized: "This atmosphere of peace and security must be lasting and realistic. This country belongs to all of us. This homeland is a matter of honor for everyone."

The torch has been lit

Bahçeli continued: "No internal or external evil or treacherous conspiracy can destroy this unity or imprison it in crisis. No matter what is said, no matter who clings to marginal and dogmatic claims, the torch of a terror-free Turkey has been lit. Today, peace and brotherhood have won. Today, politics and democracy have won. Today, from east to west, from south to north, the victors are the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, and the friendly and brotherly peoples in neighboring regions. The Presidential Government System represents the third phase of the Turkish Republic.

The dissolution of the terrorist organization is the first achieved goal of this new century. From now on, moving forward together, hand in hand towards our national ideals and ultimate goals, will be recognized as a vigilant and powerful manifestation of life, politics, and national existence, admired throughout the region and the world."

Bahçeli also expressed gratitude to Abdullah Öcalan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, the DEM Party, and the Imralı delegation for their contributions. "On this occasion, I remember with mercy the late Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who passed away on 3 May, and sincerely served the goal of a terror-free Turkey. May he rest in peace. I extend my gratitude to our President, who made the goal of a terror-free Turkey a state policy and showed determination and dedication, to his colleagues in the party and state bureaucracy who supported the vision of a future without terrorism, to PKK’s founding leader Abdullah Öcalan, who assumed historical responsibility with his peace and democratic society call on 27 February, to the delegations managing the contact between Imralı, DEM Party, and Kandil, to the DEM Party’s co-chairs, its executives, and members of parliament...
