Leader of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) says they will act as there are two official languages in Turkey without waiting for any legal amendments.
Speaking during his visit to Human Rights Associations Diyarbakir office BDP leader Selahattin Demirtas said there will be two languages in Kurdish areas.
Demirtas called all Kurds to use their language in all public places like hospitals, banks and shops. He also insisted that Kurdish businessmen should name their products in Kurdish and all the menus and signs should be bilingual, Turkish and Kurdish.
Demirtas said they won't wait Turkish governments legal amendments to start to use Kurdish language in public places. He also said that BDP's legal team is working on renaming villages with their original names in Kurdish and all municipalities will change names on road signs and official documents.
BDP leader also said Turkish government should be ashamed that there are Kurds in the country who can not speak their mother language. He insisted that Turkey should apologize Kurds for assimilation politics which continued for decades after creation of the Turkish Republic.
