BDP to run Kurdish language classes in main office

Having taken the decision to give weight to Kurdish language in authorized commissions recently, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) took the first step by starting the education training. The Kurdish courses in BDP Central Office are attended by BDP Co-Chairmen, deputies, MYK members and administrators.

Not long ago, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) took a decision to carry out its works predominantly in Kurdish to condemn the “unknown language” attitude in courts against Kurdish and to break the assimilation on Kurdish. The first application step of this decision was taken at BDP Central Office yesterday.

BDP Co-Chairmen, deputies, MYK members and party administrators took Kurdish lesson at BDP Central Office yesterday. The course was attended by politicians like Nuri Yaman, Osman Özçelik, who know Kurdish well, and Akýn Birdal, who doesn’t know Kurdish at all. It was observed that Birdal was helped by his classmate Tuncer Bakýrhan at intervals. It was recorded that the training workings, which are performed with the support of TZP Kurdi and KURD-DER, will be extended in following days in locals and for this purpose; Kurdish is aimed to be made the language of politics.

Giving information concerning the issue, BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaþ mentioned that they will keep attending the course until they learn Kurdish completely.  Demirtaþ stated that the Kurdish course has turned out to an institutional working as the sensibility for learning and adopting the mother-language has progressed recently in particular, pointing out that the course is a significant working for having a command of Kurdish and for improving Kurdish as the language of politics. Remarking that the deputies and party administrators will not be contented with this course only and they will keep attending all language courses to learn their mother-tongue, Demirtaþ spoke as follows; “As these workings become widespread before the society, the assimilation on Kurdish will be broken when particularly parents teach their children their language. This is sure a temporary expedient. The main point is that children learn the mother-tongue in families and improve it in educational establishments too. But still, the efficient way of preventing and stopping the assimilation to a certain extent is to try hard to learn your mother-tongue and use it everywhere”.
