Turkish Ministry of Justice has yet to answer BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) delegation's demand to visit Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı prison.
BDP group deputy chair Pervin Buldan from the delegation to pay the visit to İmralı said that the meeting could take place on Monday, adding that the party has received no answer to its demand for the next visit to the Kurdish leader.
BDP delegation last visited Öcalan on 15 September.
During his most recent meeting with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on 7 October, the Kurdish leader said that he would make his thoughts public on October 15 should he be paid the expected visit by the delegations of the BDP and the state.
Öcalan who talked about the ongoing democratic solution process and the approaching local elections during the meeting voiced his satisfaction about the ongoing non-conflict environment that has witnessed no deaths on either side, Turkish army and Kurdish guerrillas, but added that the Turkish state and government should smooth the way for the process to advance because -he underlined- it can not progress much with unilateral steps.
“I will convey my thoughts about the process to the BDP and state delegation I expect to meet in the coming weeks. The rest- whether the process will advance or not- goes beyond me for I have not been enabled to do my part within this process. We should have witnessed some developments and my conditions should have been improved by now. Should the state and government fail to pave the way for my further involvement in the process, that would be all and I may recede from negotiations should the process go like this. I do not know who would take part in talks after that time, maybe the BDP and Kandil (KCK) should they agree to continue", the Kurdish leader said.
On 10 October, Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Presidency has also released a declaration highlighting the steps needed for the continuation of the democratic resolution process in search of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.
KCK remarked that the AKP government used İmralı talks as an instrument to gain time and to eliminate the Kurdish liberation movement, noting that it also treated the talks with the legal, democratic Kurdish political movement.
Reminding that the Kurdish side has done its part for the advancement of the resolution process, KCK noted that the AKP government has taken no steps for maintaining the non-conflict environment achieved with the ceasefire announced by the Kurdish movement, nor for the achievement of a solution to the Kurdish issue and democratisation in the country.
KCK said that it was essential that the following three basic demands of the Kurdish people be satisfied for the achievement of a peaceful and democratic solution and to ensure the ending of the assimilation and cultural genocide of Kurds.
-the recognition of the Kurdish existence, identity and culture and initiation of constitutional and legal assurance, the recognition of Kurdish people's freedom of thought and organization
-the recognition of the Kurdish self-determination,i.e. democratic autonomy
-the recognition of mother tongue education
Underlining that it would be a legitimate right for Kurds to build their free and democratic life with their own will and power unless their rights are recognized, KCK said a new struggle term would be launched in that case.
