On the 1st December, as part of the ‘Defend Kurdistan’ days of action, activists from Bristol Kurdistan Solidarity Network (BKSN) returned to the offices of Boeing Defence in Filton to demand that the company immediately halts its sale of arms to Turkey. Friends arrived at the Boeing offices at approximately 16.00 and remained outside, playing music, shouting slogans, banging pots and pans and reading out a
statement.
This was, however, not the only disruption to Boeing’s day. Between 11.00 and 13.00, a Twitter storm and phone blockade of Boeings offices was also called, jamming their communications and forcing employees to hear about the war crimes their technologies are used to commit. Boeing Bristol turned off their phones and sent workers home early as a result of this action.
This is the second week of demonstrations at Boeing’s offices following the publication of a picture of a burned out bomb shell with the company’s name printed on the casing, that had been dropped near Kobane on the night of the 19th November, the start of Turkey’s ‘Operation Claw Sword’.
Sadly, Boeing is not the only arms dealer in the area and comrades from the group will return to Filton on Saturday 3rd December to join Campaign Against the Arms Trade’s day of action against 6 arms factory's based in the area.
