Campaign to remove PKK from lists of terrorist organisations seeks to collect millions of signatures

The worldwide campaign launched by the Justice for Kurds initiative to remove the PKK from the lists of terrorist organisations wants to collect millions of signatures.

The campaign for the removal of the PKK from the EU and US lists of terrorist organisations was launched by 29 intellectuals and reached a thousand first signatories on 13 December. The campaign promoted by the Justice for Kurds initiative takes place in 30 countries and is led by around a thousand internationally known personalities. These include parliamentarians, academics, filmmakers, politicians, writers and activists.

Open to all

The campaign is advertised in many languages on the Justice for Kurds campaign website and is open to broad participation. It is conducted primarily in Europe, the US, Canada and Australia and is actively supported by the Kurdish social centers.

The goal is four million signatures

The campaign is expected to last several months and aims to collect four million signatures. The signatures are to be sent to the Council of Europe and to the appropriate institutions responsible for the list of terrorist organisations in the US. The campaign is also intended to serve as a reference for members of the national parliaments and bring the topic to their agenda.

The initiative aims to withdraw legitimacy for the warlike approach and repression of the Turkish state, which also uses the lists of terrorist organisations of the EU and the US as a justification for its excessive use of the term terrorism to prosecute any opposition, as well as for its attacks and war crimes against Maxmur, Shengal and Rojava. The initiative sees the delisting of the PKK as an important step towards breaking the international silence on the crimes of the Turkish state and paving the way to a just peace.
