Clashes between People's Defense Units (YPG) and al-Qaeda affiliated ISIS (the Islamic state of Iraq and ash-Sham) and al-Nusra Front have been going on in western Kurdistan for nearly two months now.
Clashes between Kurdish fighters and jihadist groups have intensified in some areas after YPG forces launched the expansive “Martyr Çekjin Efrin Revolutionary Operation” in Girkê Legê and Serekaniye three days ago.
YPG fighters seized the control of three strategic villages on Wednesday following simultaneous attacks they launched targeting three headquarters of the armed gang groups in the villages of Xedean, Mişerfa and Quwetle, in Til Kocer. The gang groups suffered heavy losses in the attacks.
Fighters of the YPG also carried out separate attacks against the gang groups deployed around the Girhok, Gire Fate, Yusufiye, Til Hecer and Sefaji villlages.
In the wake of the attacks by YPG forces, clashes are reported to be continuing near the villages of Girhok, Mişerfa and Yusufiye.
