Clashes going on in Rojava

Clashes broke out between western Kurdistan's People's Defense Forces (YPG) fighters and militants of the radical Islamist ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham) and al-Nusra Front in Çelaxa region, of Girke Legê province, on Tuesday.

According to the reports received, clashes broke out after militants of the gang groups attacked YPG's control point in the village of Sefa. YPG strongly responded to the attack. Clashes lasted till early morning.

Other units of the jihadist groups carried out another attack targeting the villages of Girhok, Yusufiye and Gire Fate with heavy weapons. The attack which was launched as clashes in Çilexa were continuing was also repulsed by YPG fighters. Clashes here also lasted throughout the night.

Local sources say that a number of gang members were killed and wounded in clashes, and that YPG fighters seized a tank of the armed groups, damaged one other and destroyed two vehicles carrying anti-aircraft guns.

On Tuesday, al-Nusra and ISIS members in Tal Halaf had carried out another attack against Serekaniye at around 9 p.m. Clashes broke out as YPG responded to the attack and  ended with the withdrawal of the groups two hours later.

Clashes between YPG and gang groups also continuing in some areas of Tal Abyad.

YPG fighters have seized at least seven tanks of the armed groups since the beginning of August.
