Intellectuals underlined that clashes and death news move Kurds and Turks away from each other in a way which could be hard to change in the future. Here some of their comments to ANF.
ABDURRAHMAN DILIPAK:
In my opinion, the problem is discussed in a narrow minded way. In Turkey, exists nowadays a terrifying ambition and desire for polarization. People are dying but the only result is the statistical information given on official internet sites, the number of martyr soldiers and the number of killed terrorists; which is a much shallow attitude. I believe that people can walk away from this blood bath hand in hand as long as the politics mechanism gives up explaining the situation with statistical information and decides to solve the problem with a democratic and peaceful program.
AYDIN ÇUBUKÇU:
The progression is desperate and everybody from the government to opposition must take responsibility. Somebody must urgently say end this situation. The deepening of the war will make deeper and deeper wounds difficult to heal. The situation must be covered without any discrimination.
OSMAN KAVALA:
The government so called "initiative" unfortunately was not implemented. AKP (Justice and Development Party) behaved in a coward and blind way during the process and now it is paying for it. Unless there is a peaceful and democratic solution movement, the clashes will go on as in the last 25 years.
NECMIYE ALPAY:
There isn’t any ral plan for peace. Everyone has become more populist as the elections are drawing close. I think they are not aware that they are playing with fire. There exists a mutual cruelty and war mentality. And the government, unfortunately, can’t look at the situation from this point of view. The solution of the problem requires courage and I don’t think anyone will have such a courage as the election is coming closer.
