Covid-19: 18,135 infected, 356 dead in Turkey

18,757 tests have been conducted in Turkey on Thursday, 2,456 being positive. 79 more people have died today.

Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca published latest figures of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country on Thursday.

According to the figures, the total number of those infected with the virus has risen to 18,135.

18,757 tests have been conducted in Turkey during the past 24 hours, 2,456 being positive. 79 more people have died today, bringing the death toll to 356.

82 percent of those who died of coronavirus during the past 24 hours are over 60 years of age.

According to the latest figures, 125,556 people have been tested in Turkey so far and 18,135 of these have been confirmed infected. 1,101 are in intensive care and 783 are intubated. 415 of those infected have recovered.

Non-governmental organisations believe that the Turkish government is hiding the truth on the number of those infected and dead.

While images and information circulated on social media contradict with the official figures, a wave of repression has been initiated against social media users amid increasing threats by the ministry of interior. Thousands of social media accounts have been targeted so far and hundreds of people have been arrested in recent days.
