DBP Mardin co-chair remanded in custody

The Turkish regime’s political genocide operations against the Kurdish people and their elected representatives continue unabated.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Mardin co-chair Hasibe Mengirkaon had her home raided by the police in an operation against 11 people over their activities within the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) on December 11. Mengirkaon was not found home at the time of the raid.

An arrest warrant was issued against the DBP politician on December 24 in the scope of an investigation. Hasibe Mengirkaon who went to Mardin Security Directorate to give her statement was taken into custody by the police.

Referred to court after her detention, Mengirkaon was remanded in custody for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization”.

Mergirkaon was sent to Mardin E Type Closed Prison.
