DEM Party condemns the Kobane massacre, calling it “a deliberate message aimed at destroying hopes"

Condemning the massacre of a family in a village in Kobane, the DEM Party demanded that independent international institutions immediately launch an investigation, clarify the background of the attack, and identify those responsible.

The Central Executive Board of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) released a statement condemning the massacre of a family as a result of a Turkish aerial attack on a house in a village in Kobane, northern Syria.

A family of nine (seven children and their parents) were killed in the attack, which two other members of the family survived with injuries.

The DEM Party statement on Monday includes the following:

“We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a mother, father, and their seven children from the same family were killed, and two civilians were injured in a drone attack on the village of Berxbotan in Kobane.

This massacre is a war crime that deeply wounds the human conscience. It is an attack that openly violates international law and the right of civilians in the region to live in peace. Targeting of children, women, and innocent families reflects a profoundly inhumane mindset.

We deeply feel the pain of all our losses, especially the children who lost their lives, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We strongly condemn this inhumane attack. With a political stance that rejects war in all its forms, we emphasize that the perpetrators must be held accountable.

This incident is no coincidence, occurring at a time when the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has signed an agreement with the interim government in Damascus and taken official decisions against any form of attack. It is a deliberate act aimed at escalating tensions in the region and targeting hopes for peace. As Mr. Öcalan has previously pointed out, it is an attempt at sabotage.

We ask those who constantly act as if there’s an ongoing threat from across the border: Are the murdered children a security threat to you? We will never accept the killing of children and civilians under the pretext of security!

At a time when the possibility of peace is being discussed, a family of nine, including seven children, was brutally murdered. This is not just an ordinary attack; it is a deliberate message aimed at destroying hopes for peace. We call on the AKP government to immediately make a statement regarding the murder of civilians, including children, and to expose those responsible for this heinous crime.

As the DEM Party, we will raise this flagrant atrocity on national and international platforms. We will continue our struggle with all our strength until the responsible parties are identified and held accountable before justice.”

We demand that independent international institutions immediately launch an investigation, clarify the background of the attack, and identify those responsible.
